What to expect working in Performance Audit

Performance auditors help improve government by developing recommendations to enhance accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in state government. Auditors work in teams and perform a variety of activities, including conducting research on other states and best practices, interviewing stakeholders and agency staff, analyzing datasets, reviewing documentation, formulating audit conclusions and writing reports.

Examples of audits include evaluating whether agencies are complying with laws and meeting their mission, whether programs are successful at meeting outcomes, and whether agency management provides sufficient oversight of programs.
