The Louisiana Legislative Auditor offers career opportunities across a number of divisions. These include:

Financial Audit: Performs financial statement audits of state agencies and universities. Assesses stewardship of public officials. Instills confidence in government. Employs individuals with degrees in accounting.

Performance Audit: Addresses specific objectives regarding economy, efficiency and effectiveness of state programs, functions and activities. Employs CPAs and individuals with advanced degrees in a variety of fields including public and business administration, economics, law, etc.

Compliance Audit: Gathers evidence regarding allegations of fraud and abuse affecting government entities. Detects and deters misappropriation of public assets. Employs individuals with degrees in accounting or advanced degrees with a minimum of 15 hours in accounting. Involves travel throughout Louisiana.

Advisory Services: Advises local government (e.g., school boards, police juries, etc.) in best accounting practices and controls. Provides guidance and training to local entities to improve financial reporting quality. Ensures quality and timeliness of government audits performed by external CPAs. Employs individuals with degrees in accounting. Involves travel throughout Louisiana.

Information Technology: Audits computer systems at government agencies to ensure data integrity and security. Provides state-of-the-art computing environment. Employs individuals with accounting and computing backgrounds.

Recovery Assistance: Audits disaster assistance funds to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements. Provides technical assistance to the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Employs individuals with degrees in accounting or advanced degrees with a minimum of 15 hours in accounting.
